MYSTIMEWS

Appearance & Physiology
A typical mystimew stands upright at 4’11”/1.24m on average (various individuals being shorter or taller), has medium length fur, a “v” pointed tongue, hand and feet paws with 3 fingers/toes each, their hand paws being larger than their feet paws.
Their ears and tails may vary greatly, but most commonly they will have medium-sized pointed ears and long thin tails with a fluffy plume at the tip. Their fur can be any length (including none) and have any colors or patterns.
Physically, their bodies have no rigid anatomy and organs (including digestive and reproductive systems) which renders them highly flexible and adaptable in form. They also tend to be viewed as closest to being myst in its “purest” form. This makes them very adept at magic and also shapeshifting magic.
Due to this, during a mystimew kitten’s growth, their form will develop strongly according to and along with their internal self-image. Additionally, body modification is very common, leading to there being many mystimews with various unique traits, some parroting those of other species.
Scarves & hats
In spite of their potential body shape variety, mystimews can be most commonly recognized by their witchy hats and scarves, they are rarely ever seen not wearing at least their signature wing-like scarves.
A mystimew will traditionally make their own scarf at a young age with the help of their guardians and they will be bonded to it for life. It’s not currently known what exactly led to their scarves being made with wing-motifs, but it’s commonly thought to have been made to mirror other wing-having species. The scarves can have their style changed with magic for aesthetic or practical reasons, for example adding a hood, or turning it into a cloak, or changing the color/pattern on it.
A mystimew’s scarf is considered an extension of themselves, and while they can take them off, they will feel antsy without them on. The loose scarf ends can actually move and will typically move unconsciously to a mystimew in response to their emotions/feelings, such as raising and flapping in excitement, or dropping in sadness/tiredness. Despite the wing motif, they will not give / assist in flight without use of specialised magic. With some practice, some mystimews can consciously move their scarf ends, potentially even using them as extra arms.
If a mystimew were to wear another mew’s scarf, they would feel innately wrong, even making them ill if worn for a prolonged time. If a mystimew were to lose their scarf, they would feel like they lost a part of themselves, they could get/craft a new scarf, but would never feel the same.
Hats aren’t quite as intrinsic to mystimews as their scarves and it’s not rare to see them not wearing hats at all, but they are a very common part of a mystimew’s style. Witchy pointed wide brimmed hats are common, but they come in all kinds of styles too.
It’s fairly common for their hats and scarves to have miscellaneous enchantments, cosmetic ones to give them that special little sparkle, or functional ones like boosting the power of their spells or adding pocket spaces for storage.
Magic Ability
Mystimews have high magic ability, they have higher innate understanding of it and pick it up easier than other species. Although they will still have specific affinities when it comes to it, they are much more individual than being global for the species. That being said, they commonly tend to possess more finesse when it comes to shapeshifting magic due to their flexible anatomy.
Familiars
Sometimes you need an extra pair of paws (or several few) for a little help, or other times, you just get a little lonely perfecting your spells and brews - for this reason a lot of mystimews will have familiars! These familiars may either be tamed myvstrican animals, or crafted and given life by mystimews. Mystimews will share a special bond with their familiars, tamed animals will have greater intelligence due to this bond. Typically, a mystimew will only have one familiar, but it’s not uncommon for them to have several either.
Life / Society
Mystimews tend to be introverted and take a long time to form connections with others of their own and other species, despite this they most commonly prefer to live within a community, although loner mystimews are not uncommon either.
Magic is usually a large focus of a mystimew’s life, with them usually spending most of their time honing their craft, whether that is perfecting their spells or building up their spellbooks. A mystimew will typically have some area of focus in terms of magic, whether broad or niche, such as shapeshifting, potion making, growth of plants and modification of them, ect. There are mystimews that want to know everything too, but they usually have a much harder time due to the sheer (infinite) amount to know.
